PAST TENSE
In this occasion I'd like to share about past tense. Past tense is a kind of tense to talk about an action or a situation - an event in the past time. Past tense function are :
  1. Express that an action started and finished at a specific time in the past. Example : We visited Kartini Museum last holiday.
  2. Describe a habit which stopped in the past ( we often add expressions such as; always often, never, etc to make it clear that we are talking about habit ). Example : I always saw a night fare when I was child.
  3. Describe the past facts or generalization which are no longer true. Example : Grandfather didn't like coffee before.
 The adverbs that are usually used in the past tense sentence are :
  • Yesterday
  • Last . . . . .
  • A week ago
  • This morning
  • Last week
  • . . . . ago
  • A few minutes ago
  • Just now, etc
A. Positive form
    S + to be (was, were) + Object/complement
    S + V2 + Object/complement
Note :
Subject (he, she, it, I) = to be (was)
Subject (we, they, you) = to be (were)
Examples :
She came here yesterday ( regular verbs )
I saw a good film last night ( irregular verbs )
The other guests were very surprised ( to be )
B. Negative form
    S + to be (was, were) + not + Object/complement
    S + did + not + V1 + Object/complement
Examples :
He did not know the matters
She was not here

C. Interrogative form
    Was/Were + S + Object/complement + ?
    Did + S + V1 + Object/complement + ?
Examples :
Were we busy last weekend ?
Did they come to Harry's house ?
